Each claim is evaluated based on its own merit, and the time needed to reach a decision will vary depending on the quality of the information supplied.

| Long Term Disability (LTD) | We make most claim decisions within 45 days, provided all information is supplied timely and they successfully obtain any missing information. |
| Short Term Disability (STD) | If only your section of the claim form is completed, Guardian will contact your employer and treating physician for eligibility and disability information. This will occur within the first 1-2 business days of processing. Guardian will reach out to them twice for this information. Note: It is your responsibility to follow-up with your employer and treating physician to ensure the information is provided to Guardian. Once all the information is received, most claim decisions are made within 7 business days. |

If your claim is approved and the payment is processed, the check is mailed 2 business days after processing. The mail time can take up to 10 business days.

If the claim (LTD/STD) is set up for direct deposit payments, the check is deposited 2 business days after the processing date.
